Reptiles of the World

While visiting Safari Niagara, come see and learn about reptiles. During our Keeper Talk “Reptiles of the World”, you will have an opportunity to learn about reptiles from the zookeepers responsible for the daily care of these cold-blooded animals.


Reptiles are a vertebrate animal (having a back or spinal column) of a class that includes snakes, lizards, crocodiles, turtles, and tortoises. They are distinguished by having dry scaly skin and typically lay soft-shelled eggs on land.


There are more than 8,000 species of reptiles on the planet, and they live on every continent except Antarctica. Did you know that some reptiles are more closely related to birds than they are to other reptiles? Or that they are all born on land, fully developed with very strong instincts, since they are on their own at birth or shortly after
